Saxophone

Miguel Angel Lorente began studying the saxophone with Enrique de Tena at the Conservatorio de Getafe (Madrid), his home town. He obtained his Higher Diploma with the qualification of 'Matricula de Honor' at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Mùsica de Madrid with Manuel Mijàn in 2005.

He continued his advanced studies at the CNR in Lyon with Jean Denis Michat, and regularly took part in master classes with Vincent David and Arno Bornkamp. In 2006, he obtained his Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude from Madrid's Complutense University. He plays regularly with the Madrid Harmony Orchestra, the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra, the Comunidad de Madrid Orchestra, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra.

In 2006, he joined Claude Delangle's class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and took part in a number of projects, including a tour of the United States and concerts in France, Germany and Thailand. While in Paris, he collaborated with IRCAM and a number of composers from the Paris Conservatoire. In 2007, he created the concerto Ihesi, Estrada, for saxophone and orchestra, with the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris. He has also performed in Madrid, Barcelona, Cologne, Berlin, Ljubljana, Paris, Lyon, Rome, Milan, Turin, Israel, Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago and Bangkok.

He has won several international competitions: First Prize at the VIII International Saxophone Competition "Villa de Benidorm" in 2007, Second Prize at the "Concorso Internazionale di sassofono Marco Fiorindo" in Turin in 2007, and Third Prize at the "Concours International L'Hay-Les-Roses" in Paris in 2010.

In June 2010 he obtained his Master's degree from the Conservatoire de Paris, graduating unanimously with 'very good' for instrumental performance and 'very good' for his artistic research project 'The relationship between composer and performer', in which he created three pieces with live electronics (soprano, alto, baritone saxophones and tubax).

Miguel Ângel Lorente has been a member of the Ensemble Multilatérale since 2011; he is also a saxophonist with the 'Banda Sinfônica Municipal de Mùsica de Madrid', a member of the 'Sigma Project' saxophone quartet, the 'Gredel' quartet and a soloist with the Ensemble Multilatérale.

Miguel Ângel Lorente has been a member of the Ensemble Multilatérale since 2011; he has been a member of the Banda Sinfônica Municipal de Mùsica de Madrid for 5 years, and has been a saxophone teacher at the Conservatorio Superior del País Vasco: Musikene since 2015.
