Felix Bacik

trombone

Félix Bacik is a musician, trombonist and improviser with multiple influences. After classical training, he specialised in chamber music and free improvisation. He entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in 2013, winning four prizes: trombone, chamber music (in quintet and trio) and generative improvisation.

A seasoned and inquisitive chamber musician, he is the founder of the Quintette Phénix, a wind quintet with an original orchestration, and the dedicatee of many new works. Félix has also been a member of the Bacchus Brass Quintet since 2014. His intense activity as a chamber musician leads him to revisit the greatest pages of the classical repertoire but also to commit himself to the music of his time. In particular, he collaborates with composers such as Alexandros Markeas, Graciane Finzi, Jacques Rebotier, Yann Robin...

Equally committed to improvisation, he and clarinettist Juliette Adam founded the Compagnie des Heures Perdues, a collective that brings together musicians and dancers in site-specific performances combining soundpainting and generative improvisation. He is now artistic director and soundpainter.

In addition to his activities as a classical musician, Félix is a member of the funk brass band BoulBiBrass. Never confined to one musical style or aesthetic, Félix's many projects have taken him to some of France's top live music venues (Philharmonie de Paris, Salle Gaveau, Seine Musicale, as well as the New Morning, the AccorHotel Arena Bercy, and the Jazz in Marciac festival) as well as most of Europe's capitals, the Middle East, China and the Caribbean. He has also been invited to join prestigious orchestras such as the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Moroccan Orchestra, the Mannheim Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Ensemble Multilatérale and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg.

Félix is a laureate of the Antoine Courtois National Trombone Competition (2013, 2nd prize with special mention), the Svirèl International Soloist Competition (Slovenia, 2015, 1st prize / golden award) and the Antwerp International Improvisation Competition (Belgium, 2019, 1st prize and Prix d'Honneur).
