Portrait de Luigi Nono
Portrait de Luigi Nono
In his late works, Luigi Nono transformed sounds by working with the legendary SWR Experimentalstudio. This is the case in Diario polacco No. 2, in which electronic sounds permeate the room. Hay que caminar - soñando, on the other hand, features two violinists wandering from one desk to another.
But Luigi Non was also a man of political convictions. Quando stanno morendo / Diario polacco no 2 was written when martial law was introduced in Poland in 1981, and the composer dedicated it to his persecuted Polish friends and comrades. Hay que caminar - soñando was composed in 1989, a year before his death, and embodies an inscription, seen on a monastery wall, that had fascinated Nono: "Vagabond, there is no path. All that counts is the walk.
